Dairy farming is one of the important sub-sectors of the Indian agriculture accounting for nearly 17 percent of the value of output from agriculture and allied activities. India continues to be the largest producer of milk in world with 122 million tonnes in 2010-11. The book is outcome of research conducted in Kolar district of Southern Karnataka, India. The central focus of this book is economics of dairy farming, which aimed to analyse the economics of milk production, income and employment generation, management practices adopted in dairy farming and role of cooperative societies in dairy development. The study covers on various economic aspects of dairying.
